Brian Smith is a Senior Counsel in the Legal Services Division of the Canadian Human Rights Commission. A member of the bar in Ontario, Brian joined the Commission in 2009, after having spent seven years as counsel with the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and several years in private litigation practices with firms in Toronto and Victoria. He has appeared regularly before human rights tribunals at the federal level and in Ontario. Among other things, he currently represents the Commission in a number of human rights cases relating to the federal government’s delivery of services to First Nations children living on reserve. Brian has argued cases before all levels of Courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
