Yvonne practiced human rights law in Winnipeg for over 30 years. During this time she served as legal counsel and advisor on a number of equality test cases involving disability rights and women’s rights. Yvonne is now retired but continues her human rights work as a volunteer with a number of community organizations. In the fall of 2018 she was appointed by the federal government to the Court Challenges Program of Canada Expert Panel on Human Rights.
From 2001 to 2017, Yvonne was a commissioner on the Manitoba Human Rights Board of Commissioners. From 2014 to 2017 she served as chair of this board.
Yvonne has been a guide dog user for the past 40 years and is a founding member of the National Coalition of People Who Use Guide and Service Dogs in Canada.
