John McEvoy joined the UNB Law Faculty in 1980 and became a full professor in 1991. His courses and areas of research have primarily been in the areas of Constitutional Law, Private International Law, Human Rights Law, Aboriginal Peoples, and Labour Law. He received the UNB Law Excellence in Teaching Award in 2014. Prof. McEvoy has argued constitutional law issues before the Courts of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and before the Supreme Court of Canada.
He has served as President of the Canadian Bar Association, New Brunswick Branch and as President of the Canadian Association of Law Teachers.
Before his appointment as a vice-chair of the NB Labour and Employment Board, he served as a volunteer mediator with the NB Human Rights Commission. He is an active labour arbitrator, mediator, and conciliator.
